    Silent Book Club: Royal Oak

    Thursday, Nov. 30 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

    Open to the public

Join us for the next gathering for our new chapter of Silent Book Club! Arrive around 6:30 p.m. to socialize, share what you're reading and order wine and snacks. Quiet reading hour runs 7-8 p.m. Keep reading 8-8:30 p.m. or enjoy more socialization. We look forward to seeing you!

What's Silent Book Club? Silent Book Club is a global community of readers and introverts, with 300 chapters around the world led by local volunteers. SBC members gather in person and online to read together in quiet camaraderie. Silent Book Club started in 2012 with a couple of friends—Guinevere de la Mare and Laura Gluhanich—reading in companionable silence at their neighborhood bar in San Francisco. They loved books, and reading with friends, but most of their previous attempts at book clubs had fizzled out. Often with traditional book clubs there's the scramble to finish the assigned book, and the pressure to have something smart to say. Wouldn't it be great to have a book club where you could just enjoy books, friends, and wine—without any homework? At Silent Book Club, there's no assigned reading. Silent Book Club is about community. Everyone is welcome, and anyone can join or launch a chapter. We encourage people all over the world to start their own Silent Book Clubs. All you need is a friend, a café, and a book. We have active chapters around the world in cities of all sizes, and new chapters are being launched by volunteers every week. OpinioNation by Sporcle at MBTB Shelby Township

    Saturday, Dec. 2 7:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.

    Open to the public

Join us at Michigan By The Bottle Tasting Room-Shelby Township for the Family Feud-style game OpinioNation, with games on Saturdays at 7:30 and 8:30 p.m.! OpinioNation is a survey-based game that is great for everyone – not just brainiacs! Teams try to guess the five most popular responses given to fun survey questions. It’s not a test of your knowledge, it’s a chance to see what you can think of. The "smartest" team doesn’t always win! It's FREE to play, and the top three teams in each game receive prizes!

The Rules: Each of the four quarters asks four questions. For each question, you’ll earn 5 points if your team guesses the most popular answer, 4 points for the second-most popular answer, and so on down to 1 point for the 5th most-popular answer. At the end of quarters 1-3, there is a bonus question that gives you two points for each correct answer guessed by your team. After the four quarters there are two Final Questions. On the Final Questions, teams are still guessing the most popular answers, but this time the most popular answer earns you 10 points, the second-most popular answer earns 5 points, the third-most popular answer earns 0 points, and anything else causes your team to lose 5 points! After the Final Question answers are turned in and scored, the team with the most points wins!

    Silent Book Club: Royal Oak

    Thursday, Dec. 28 6:30 p.m.

Virtual House Party with MBTB and Blue Skies Auburn

Complete the below webform to inquire about your event

Our Virtual House Party option via MBTB Tasting Rooms and Blue Skies Brewery-Auburn Hills brings wine and/or beer tastings directly into your living room via Zoom!

Here's how it works: You pick the date and time (subject to availability) and one of our trusty MBTB or BSB team members will arrange your own personalized wine or beer tasting. It can be one-on-one or with up to 98 of your friends (appropriately socially distanced, of course, or they can dial into Zoom separately). You can choose the wines/beers from our stash, or you can leave it to us. No minimum wine/beer purchased is required beyond the session fee, so you're welcome to split bottles between friends, each get your own, whatever you like. Your dedicated host will lead you through the wine and beers, answer your questions, etc. Great for our regulars who miss hanging out, bachelorette parties, birthday parties, family get-togethers, block parties, etc.

Cost per 1-hour session (does not include wine/beer):

Featured Artist

MBTB Tasting Room is home to a long-term gallery exhibit by Michigan artist Stephanie Schlatter. Stephanie, who hails from the Grand Rapids area, describes herself as “a painter of color, with a passion for expressing those things which inspire me.” One of those things is Michigan wine country, which served as the catalyst for Stephanie’s series, “On the Michigan Wine Trail.” The OTMWT works are her vivid depictions of the state’s sweeping vineyard vistas, but Stephanie says it’s more than just an attempt to re-create beautiful scenery.

“It explores the essence of the region’s many seasonal faces,” she explained. “It reveals the hearts of the people who live there, and what happens to them as they inhabit and grow attached to this enchanting place. It captures the magic that I personally found there, that has in turn captured me. My series, like their wine, tells of the people – their journeys, their art, and the relationships they’ve built with the land. The stories are all there on the canvas, like a bottle of wine, waiting for us to uncork it.”

You can see portions of Stephanie’s OTMWT series in person at MBTB Tasting Room, and also purchase originals and/or prints of various sizes on site.
